Privacy Policy
Before launch: replace WallGlass with the legal name of the publisher (sole trader or company) and add a postal address in the Contact section if your jurisdiction requires one. Everything else below matches how the app is built.
The short version
WallGlass does not collect, store or transmit your personal data. It has no servers, no accounts and no analytics. Everything it shows is read on your iPad from Apple's frameworks or from servers you configure yourself, and stays there. The App Store privacy label for WallGlass is "Data Not Collected".
What the app accesses on your iPad, and why
WallGlass asks iPadOS for permission only when you turn on a feature that needs it. You can decline any of them and the rest of the app keeps working. Each permission can be changed later in Settings › Privacy & Security.
Permission | Used for | Where the data goes |
|---|---|---|
Home (HomeKit) | Showing and controlling your accessories, scenes, cameras and doorbell. | Stays within Apple's HomeKit framework on the device and your Home hub. |
Location | Local weather and sunrise/sunset. You can type a city instead. | Your approximate location is sent to Apple's WeatherKit service to fetch the forecast, under Apple's privacy policy. It is not sent anywhere else. |
Calendars and Reminders | The next event on the clock face, the Calendar and Reminders apps. | Read on the device only. |
Photos | Album wallpapers and the Photos face. | Read on the device only. Photos you import as wallpapers are copied into the app's own storage on the iPad. |
Contacts | The FaceTime and Contacts tiles. | Read on the device only. Calls are placed by the FaceTime app. |
Health | The Fitness rings widget. | Read on the device only. Never written, never exported. |
Local network and Bonjour | Finding and talking to your Home Assistant server. | Only to the Home Assistant address you enter. |
Media Library | The Music tile and AirPlay speaker selection. | Read on the device only. |
Home Assistant
If you connect a Home Assistant server, WallGlass stores its address and your long-lived access token in the iPad's Keychain and uses them solely to load your dashboards from that server. The server is yours; its own logs and policies apply. WallGlass never proxies, mirrors or forwards this traffic. Deleting the connection in Settings removes the token.
Content you add
News headlines are fetched directly by the iPad from the RSS or Atom feeds you add, so those websites see a normal request from your IP address. Shortcuts you add run in Apple's Shortcuts app. Commute times are calculated by Apple Maps from the addresses you enter.
Purchases
WallGlass Pro is sold through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Apple processes the payment and holds the receipt; WallGlass receives only an anonymous confirmation that a subscription is active. We never see your name, card or Apple Account.
What we do not do
- No analytics, telemetry or crash reporting of any kind.
- No advertising, no tracking identifiers, no third-party SDKs that phone home.
- No account creation, no e-mail collection, no cloud sync run by us.
- No sale or sharing of data, because there is no data to share.
Children
WallGlass is rated 4+ and is suitable for a family display. It does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Your choices
Every permission can be revoked in iPadOS Settings. Deleting the app removes everything it stored on the device, including imported wallpapers and the Home Assistant token.
Changes
If a future version starts to process data differently, this page and the App Store privacy label will be updated before that version ships, and the effective date above will change.
